The Swedish men's national soccer team conducted an open training session at Frisco Stadium on Tuesday, offering local supporters a chance to observe the squad just days before the 2026 FIFA World Cup begins. More than 2,000 attendees, including FC Dallas season ticket holders and residents, gained entry through a lottery system.
Among the crowd was defender Herman Johansson, who plays for FC Dallas and has been with the national team since late May. He noted that his professional experience in the area allowed him to share insights with teammates during the session.
Players emphasized their preparation for the warmer North Texas conditions. Johansson explained that the squad has been practicing in varied environments back home to simulate the heat they will face in the United States. Forward Gustaf Nilsson expressed readiness for the competition, noting the long wait for the event has finally ended.
The team, ranked 38th globally, returns to the World Cup stage for the first time since 2018. The tournament officially kicks off on June 11, with Sweden scheduled to play its first group match against Tunisia on June 14 in Mexico.
