Recently released bodycam video depicts Karmelo Anthony wailing to officers while being detained for the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf at a 2025 high school track meet in Frisco. In the recording, Anthony appears to justify his actions by claiming Metcalf touched him after he had issued a warning, a narrative that aligned with the self-defense argument presented during his murder trial.

The footage shows Anthony becoming compliant as officers searched him. He explicitly told police he was not merely an alleged suspect, stating directly, "I did it." Anthony was arrested and charged with murder on the same day as the April 2025 incident. A jury rejected his self-defense claim in June and sentenced him to 35 years in prison. His legal team has initiated an appeal, and his family continues to seek his release.
