Bodycam video released Thursday shows Karmelo Anthony crying to officers immediately after he stabbed Austin Metcalf at a high school track meet in Frisco, Texas. In the recording, Anthony is heard wailing that Metcalf touched him despite warnings, a claim that aligned with the self-defense argument he raised during his murder trial.

The footage also depicts Anthony becoming compliant as officers searched him. During the encounter, he explicitly stated, "I did it," rather than identifying himself as a suspect. Anthony was arrested and charged with murder on the same day as the April 2025 incident.

A jury rejected his self-defense claim in June and sentenced him to 35 years in prison. His legal team has begun an appeal process while his family continues to seek his release.
