Little Elm is about 7 miles west of Frisco. The No. 3-ranked Little Elm boys basketball team has clinched the District 5-6A championship title. The squad completed the regular season with an undefeated week on the road, securing the title with three games remaining in the schedule.

The team defeated Guyer with a score of 43-40 on Tuesday. They followed that victory with a 64-55 win over Marcus on Friday. These results confirmed the district crown for the Eagles.

Meanwhile, meteorological conditions are shifting across the region. An extreme arctic airmass is expected to deliver dangerous cold to North Texas on Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures are not projected to rise above freezing until later in the week, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters have issued a Winter Storm Watch for Dallas, Collin, and Denton counties. The watch covers the period from Friday afternoon through late Saturday night. This alert was expanded as an Arctic air mass brings dangerous cold and a mix of winter precipitation to the region.

A significant winter storm is bearing down on the Dallas-Fort Worth area this weekend. The system may bring a dangerous combination of ice, sleet, snow, and extreme cold. Forecasters note that such a combination is unusual even for the peak of winter.

An Arctic cold front is expected to sweep through North Texas late this week. The front may bring freezing rain, sleet, and snow to the Dallas-Fort Worth region. Conditions could potentially impact travel and infrastructure from Friday evening through Sunday.

Residents are being advised to bundle up and stock supplies. The National Weather Service continues to monitor the developing situation as the arctic blast approaches.
