Former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith and other professional athletes recently attended the ninth annual RISE Family Office Athlete Enterprise Symposium in Frisco. The event aimed to teach players how to generate income and protect their finances after their playing days end.
RISE founder Mike Ledo stated that nearly 70 percent of NFL players experience financial difficulties after retirement. The organization seeks to change this trend by encouraging athlete ownership and long-term investment strategies. Ledo emphasized that players must recognize their personal brand extends beyond their team affiliation.
Smith, who began planning for retirement before his career concluded, noted that he already operates four cash-flowing companies. Former New Orleans Saints offensive lineman Terron Armstead highlighted the value of exposure to different business deals and networking opportunities. Organizers hope the symposium helps athletes build lasting wealth for themselves and future generations.
