Texas Rangers left-hander Jordan Montgomery completed a successful second rehabilitation start of the season with Double-A Frisco on Saturday. He threw two hitless, scoreless innings, striking out three batters while issuing no walks. Montgomery utilized 20 pitches, 15 of which landed in the strike zone.

Although Montgomery appeared eager to extend his outing, team officials limited his workload. He remained in the bullpen for additional throwing after the game, but the organization is maintaining a deliberate pace for his return from Tommy John surgery. Montgomery has not appeared in a Major League game since 2024.

The Rangers are managing a rotation shortage after placing Jack Leiter on the 15-day injured list with an ankle injury requiring surgery. Cal Quantrill has filled the gap during Leiter's absence. Despite the team's immediate need for starting pitching, medical staff are prioritizing Montgomery's long-term health over quick activation. He has accumulated 33 pitches across three rehab innings and must demonstrate improved command of his secondary pitches before returning to the active roster.
