Mitch Van Vooren, a native of Marinette who attended St. Norbert College, has been added to the Dallas Cowboys practice squad. The signing follows his participation in the team’s final preseason matchup against the New Orleans Saints on August 28.

During that contest, which ended in a 27-24 defeat for Dallas, Van Vooren recorded a reception for a 21-yard touchdown pass thrown by quarterback Sam Howell. Prior to joining the Cowboys roster, he had signed with the New England Patriots to begin the preseason evaluation period.

While with New England, Van Vooren appeared in a game against the Indianapolis Colts that concluded in a 13-13 tie. His contribution included one catch for four yards. He has not yet been called up to the Dallas active roster, so his status regarding regular-season play remains pending.

Van Vooren’s collegiate career at St. Norbert involved playing in 22 games. He accumulated 65 receptions for 1,045 yards and scored 13 touchdowns over that span. His performance earned him first-team All-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference honors in 2024 after he caught ten touchdown passes in eleven games that season.

He also holds the distinction of being the fourth player in Green Knight history to catch four touchdowns in a single game. If selected to the main Dallas roster, he would become the first St. Norbert alumnus to appear in a regular-season NFL game since Ted Fritsch Jr. played for Atlanta and Washington between 1972 and 1979.

Details regarding how long Van Vooren will remain on the practice squad or his specific role with the team have not been provided.
