Members of the Swedish national soccer team encountered unexpected demolition activity at their training facility in Frisco, Texas, during a session on Wednesday night. The group, which has used Toyota Stadium as its base camp since arriving in early June, noticed mangled metal and debris near the field. Midfielder Besfort Zeneli expressed confusion, noting that no storm had occurred to cause the damage.
FC Dallas clarified that the scene was the result of a scheduled pull-down demolition within an active construction zone, not an accident or weather event. The club stated that the work was controlled, involved no explosives, and did not injure anyone. The area had been fenced off prior to the team’s arrival, and the construction has not affected the pitch or facilities used by the squad ahead of their Group F match against Japan.
The demolition is part of a multi-year renovation project at the stadium that began in early 2025. The full completion is expected before the 2028 MLS season starts, while FC Dallas continues to host regular-season games at the venue.
