The City of Frisco has released traffic and parking information for Frisco Freedom Fest, presented by CoServ, scheduled for Saturday, July 4. The event includes a block party, a RoughRiders baseball game, and a fireworks show in the Riders Field area. These activities will necessitate several road closures around the ballpark throughout the day and evening.

Daytime closures begin at 8 a.m. on July 4, when Avenue of the Stars next to the ballpark closes. Traffic will be unable to circulate around the east side of Riders Field for the remainder of the day. A section of RoughRiders Trail is already closed for the week's baseball games. Drivers have several parking options, including three parking garages north of the ballpark, a surface lot south of the ballpark, the IKEA parking lot, and the Stonebriar Centre mall parking lot. The city notes that IKEA and Stonebriar Centre will close early at 6 p.m. as Freedom Fest begins at 5 p.m. The baseball game is set to start at 7:05 p.m.

Nighttime road closures will occur from 9 p.m. to midnight to manage traffic after the fireworks show. Residents in nearby apartments and guests at Embassy Suites are instructed to approach the area via southbound Parkwood Boulevard, turn right onto John Q. Hammons Drive, and follow the designated green route on the city map to access their driveways. Specific nighttime closures include Texas Rangers Drive west of Diamond Drive, IKEA Drive between Dallas Parkway and Parkwood Boulevard, and northbound Dallas Parkway between SH 121 and IKEA Drive.

Drivers heading north into Frisco should use the Dallas North Tollway or Preston Road. Those approaching the ballpark or nearby apartments should travel north on Preston Road, turn left onto Warren Parkway, and then left onto Parkwood Boulevard. Drivers using the northbound Dallas North Tollway exit ramp to Gaylord Parkway should use the exit to John Hickman Parkway instead. Drivers on the northbound frontage road must turn right on the SH 121 frontage road to reach Parkwood Boulevard or Preston Road. Median openings along Gaylord Parkway and Parkwood Boulevard will not allow left turns.

To reduce congestion, drivers leaving Riders Field and nearby lots will be directed to turn right onto the Dallas Parkway frontage road, northbound or southbound Parkwood Boulevard, or eastbound Gaylord Parkway. Once at a major intersection, drivers may proceed in any direction. The city expects delays due to high traffic volume and recommends using the Waze app for real-time navigation. Maps detailing road closures and exit routes are available as PDFs from the city.
