The intersection of Frisco Street and Cobb Hill Drive will close for about seven months starting Monday, October 12, as crews construct a roundabout. The roads leading to the intersection are expected to remain closed until late May.
Impact on Memorial High School Traffic
The closure will require many parents and students to use alternate routes to and from Memorial High School after Fall Break. As shown on the attached map, the northernmost school driveway on Frisco Street will be closed during construction. Vehicles will not be able to approach the school from the north. All traffic must enter from the south.
Detour Routes
Drivers coming from neighborhoods east of Preston Road should use Eldorado Parkway and turn north onto Frisco Street to reach Memorial High School. They should use the same route when returning home.
Drivers coming from neighborhoods west of the Dallas North Tollway should turn right onto the southbound Dallas Parkway frontage road, use the u-turn lane before Eldorado Parkway, and then turn right onto Newton Drive. To return home, they should take Newton Drive to the northbound Dallas Parkway frontage road and turn left or use the u-turn at Panther Creek Parkway.
Safety Recommendations
Drivers are urged to use caution in the work zone and to find an alternate route in advance. The city notes that drivers can also use the Waze app to navigate road closures. Residents can view a map of closures and detours via a PDF link provided by the city or click here to learn about Waze or install it on their smartphone.
