Suns withstand Spurs’ fourth-quarter push for 102-98 victory

Suns hold on

San Antonio made the final quarter its strongest, but Phoenix’s earlier cushion proved decisive. The Spurs scored 25 points in the fourth while the Suns scored 17, trimming the margin before Phoenix secured a 102-98 victory Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, at Mortgage Matchup Center.

Luke Kennard scored 20 points for Phoenix. Jalen Green had five assists, and Khaman Maluach finished with 15 rebounds. Dylan Harper scored 15 points for San Antonio, while Victor Wembanyama recorded six assists and Luke Kornet had 10 rebounds.

Phoenix builds its margin

The Suns established control in the opening period, outscoring San Antonio 35-25. Kennard connected on multiple shots in the quarter, including two 3-pointers and a 16-foot pullup jumper, while Green also made a 29-foot 3-pointer and a 22-foot 3-pointer.

San Antonio responded in the second quarter, scoring 26 points to Phoenix’s 23. The Spurs narrowed the gap, but Phoenix still carried a 58-51 advantage into halftime. Harper made a 25-foot 3-pointer and a driving dunk during the period, and Wembanyama added a 13-foot jumper.

Spurs close the gap

Phoenix restored some separation in the third quarter. The Suns scored 27 points, compared with 22 for San Antonio, to take an 85-73 lead into the fourth. Kennard made another 25-foot 3-pointer in the period, and Maluach added a 25-foot 3-pointer along with two other baskets.

The Spurs then produced their best offensive quarter of the game. Tarris Reed Jr. scored on three baskets and made two free throws, while Maliq Brown hit two 3-pointers. San Antonio got within four points, but the Suns finished with the four-point win.

Records

Phoenix improved to 1-2 after the victory. San Antonio fell to 0-2.
