This action came after the newspaper reported on a locker room incident involving Jacob Fields and Dozie Noble Ezukanma, who suffered a brain bleed, leading to Fields being charged with aggravated assault.
Despite the revocation of access, the Star-Telegram continued its coverage of the incident. TCU Athletics stated its commitment to progress and recognized the newspaper's importance as an independent news outlet within the community. The Horned Frogs began their season with a loss against North Carolina, with plans to face Grambling State on September 12.
The suspension of credentials was reportedly connected to threats made against Ezukanma, although the Star-Telegram clarified that it did not name him in its reporting. With the reinstatement, the Star-Telegram will regain full access to media areas during TCU games.
