Baylor defensive lineman Devonte Tezino will miss the remainder of the season after sustaining a leg injury during Saturday’s game against Prairie View A&M. Head coach Dave Aranda confirmed the injury after the game.
Tezino was injured on Baylor’s second offensive play from scrimmage when a Prairie View A&M offensive lineman made a cut block. Tezino called for medical personnel and was later removed from the field by cart.
The fifth-year senior from Killeen had opened the season with two sacks and a tipped pass that resulted in an interception against Auburn. Aranda said Tezino had been playing the best football of his career before the injury.
Tezino dealt with injuries last fall but appeared in all 12 games, including seven starts. He finished that season with 24 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one pass breakup. In 29 games at Baylor, he has recorded 56 tackles.
