The Dallas Cowboys have brought up linebackers Curtis Robinson and Justin Barron from the practice squad for their Week 2 matchup with the Washington Commanders. The game is scheduled as Dallas’ home opener.
The roster moves come as DeMarvion Overshown deals with a hamstring injury. The Cowboys have not provided a timetable for his return. Rather than add a veteran, Dallas chose to use practice-squad reinforcements for this game.
Robinson and Barron provide additional options at linebacker and can also play on special teams. Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said Friday that rookie linebacker Jaishawn Barham would wear the green-dot helmet in Overshown’s absence.
Overshown is among three Dallas players who received NFL fines following the Cowboys’ 20-28 loss to the New York Giants in Week 1. The league fined him $9,527 for a late hit on quarterback Jaxson Dart. Outside linebacker Donovan Ezeiruaku was fined $11,941 over a fourth-quarter facemask, while running back Javonte Williams received an $11,941 penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct involving taunting.
Blogging The Boys also reported that Dallas’ linebackers and safeties will face a test against Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels and the Commanders’ offense. The report identified improved play in the middle of the Cowboys’ defense as a key area for the Week 2 game.
