The Dallas Cowboys have ruled out four defensive players for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens in Brazil: linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, safeties P.J. Locke and Malik Hooker, and cornerback Cobie Durant.
The absences include three defensive starters. Locke, who is Dallas’ third safety and a primary reserve, also will not play against Baltimore’s offense, which features quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry.
None of the four players practiced during the week, and they did not travel to Brazil. The Cowboys’ defense ranked among the bottom three in total defense in 2025 and is 29th among 32 teams through the first two games of this season.
Team executive vice president Stephen Jones said Overshown and Hooker could have a chance to return for the Cowboys’ Week 4 game at the Houston Texans. Overshown is dealing with a hamstring strain, while Hooker is recovering from a fractured forearm. Both injuries occurred during the season opener against the Giants, and both players missed Dallas’ Week 2 victory over Washington.
Overshown serves as the defense’s signal caller. Neither he nor Hooker has been cleared to play, and the source did not say that either player is likely to return. Durant, who has a hamstring injury, and Locke, who has a foot injury, are not expected to be ready for the Houston game.
