North Crowley offensive tackle Gabriel Brooks announced Sept. 17 that he is committing to TCU for the 2027 class, ending his previous pledge to Stephen F. Austin. Brooks said he reached the decision after talking with his family and praying, and he cited the chance to stay close to home.

Brooks, listed at 6 feet 5 inches and 265 pounds, had scholarship opportunities mainly from Football Championship Subdivision schools, including SFA and Southern University. TCU is his first Football Bowl Subdivision offer. Brooks selected the Horned Frogs’ chance to compete in a Power Four league.

North Crowley has begun the season 3-0, with victories over Aledo, Southlake Carroll and Summer Creek, which is from the Houston area. The Panthers will visit Duncanville for a 7 p.m. Friday matchup. Brooks is the 19th commitment in TCU’s 2027 group. That class stands at No. 54 nationally and No. 8 in the Big 12, sports.yahoo.com reported.
