Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins will not play against the Cincinnati Bengals because of a Grade 1 hamstring injury, leaving Houston to adjust its offense without one of its leading targets.
The injury happened during Wednesday’s practice, and Collins did not participate in Houston’s final two practices of the week. The Texans later listed him as out on their final injury report.
Collins’ availability for Houston’s Week 3 game against the Indianapolis Colts has not been decided. His status for that matchup remains under evaluation, according to a report from Aaron Wilson.
Collins began the season with seven receptions, 75 receiving yards and a touchdown in Houston’s 36-31 loss to Buffalo. He has ranked among the Texans’ most productive offensive players over the past three seasons.
Houston plans to distribute Collins’ workload among multiple players against Cincinnati. Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson and Jaylin Noel are among the receivers who could receive more opportunities. Jayden Higgins is already unavailable after suffering a season-ending ACL injury.
