Cole Hutson has received a temporary injunction that allows him to play for the Texas Longhorns this season, according to a report by sports.yahoo.com citing Chip Brown of Horns247. The ruling came from Judge Maria Cantu Hexel of Austin's 53rd District Court.
Hutson was previously ruled ineligible before Texas' Week 2 game against Ohio State. On Sept. 7, coach Steve Sarkisian said the offensive lineman's status involved an NCAA matter separate from the ruling that was still being addressed.
The court decision gives Hutson a path back onto the field, but it is not yet clear when he will play. The ruling came close to Texas' SEC opener against Tennessee in Knoxville on Saturday, leaving his availability for that game uncertain. Sarkisian was scheduled to meet with local media on Thursday and could provide an update.
Texas has also received steady play at both guard positions. Oregon State transfer Dylan Sikorski has taken the starting role at left guard, despite expectations during fall camp that Western Kentucky transfer Laurence Seymore would win the position.
