Alcantara Sets Career Mark

Sandy Alcantara reached a significant career milestone while pitching for the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night, setting the franchise’s all-time strikeout record in a 6-4 victory over the Texas Rangers. The right-hander delivered a strong outing at loanDepot Park, earning the win and improving his record to 8-4.

Alcantara pitched 6.2 innings, allowing just one earned run on five hits while walking three batters. He struck out four Rangers hitters, providing the steady foundation Miami needed to withstand a late rally. The attendance at the Miami venue was 9,971.

Marlins Take Control

Miami established early momentum in the second inning when Lopez scored on a groundout to first base, giving the Marlins a 1-0 lead. Texas quickly answered as Hernández homered to center field, measuring 416 feet, to tie the game at 1-1.

The Marlins regained the lead in the fourth inning when Mack launched a home run to right-center field, 395 feet, making it 2-1. The offensive explosion came in the fifth inning. Caissie hit a three-run homer to right field (367 feet), driving in Lopez and Edwards to extend the lead to 5-1. Mack added an insurance run later in the frame with a single to left field, scoring Hernández for a 6-1 advantage.

Rangers Rally Late

Texas began chipping away at the deficit in the eighth inning. Nimmo hit a home run to right-center field (412 feet), cutting the margin to 6-2. The Rangers kept pressing in the ninth, with Pederson hitting a home run to right-center field (384 feet) to make it 6-3.

Miami’s lead seemed secure until Nimmo tripled to center field in the bottom of the ninth, allowing Langford to score and bring the Rangers within two runs at 6-4. However, the Marlins’ bullpen held firm to preserve the win.

Pitching Performance

Texas starters struggled to contain the Marlins' offense. Jose Corniell took the loss after pitching 3.1 innings, surrendering five earned runs on seven hits. Cal Quantrill pitched 2.0 innings, allowing one earned run, while Joe Ross went 2.2 innings without allowing a run.

Miami’s relief corps closed the game effectively. Tyler Zuber pitched 0.2 innings, allowing one earned run, while Lake Bachar worked 0.2 scoreless innings with a strikeout. Pete Fairbanks finished the game, pitching one inning and allowing two earned runs on two hits.

The victory improved Miami’s record to 41-39, while Texas fell to 38-41.
