FRISCO, Texas — The City of Frisco is conducting overnight ground spraying this weekend after a mosquito pool tested positive for West Nile virus, city officials announced.

The spraying is scheduled for Saturday, June 27 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, and Sunday, June 28 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, weather permitting. The targeted neighborhoods include Frisco Avalon, Frisco Avalon North, Frisco Springs, and Meadow Hill Estates.

This marks the third positive mosquito pool in Frisco so far in 2026. No human cases of West Nile virus have been confirmed in the city this year, according to the city's Health and Food Safety division.

City officials are urging residents to follow the Texas Department of State Health Services' "Wear, Apply, and Remove" guidelines: wear long sleeves and pants at dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active, apply insect repellent containing DEET, picaridin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus, and remove standing water from bird baths, gutters, flower pot saucers, and other containers where mosquitoes breed.

The spraying is conducted in accordance with the city's Mosquito Surveillance and Response Plan. Residents can find more information, including a map of the spray zones, at friscotexas.gov/Mosquitoes or by calling the Health and Food Safety division at 972-292-5304.
