FRISCO, Texas — The City of Frisco launched overnight ground spraying Saturday after a mosquito pool tested positive for West Nile virus, marking the third confirmed positive sample in the city this year.
Spraying began at 9 p.m. Saturday and runs through 5 a.m. Sunday, with a second round scheduled Sunday night into Monday morning, weather and wind permitting. A third-party contractor is conducting the spraying across portions of four neighborhoods: Frisco Avalon, Frisco Avalon North, Frisco Springs, and Meadow Hill Estates.
No human cases of West Nile virus have been confirmed in Frisco in 2026, according to city officials. The city monitors mosquito pools annually from May 1 through November 15 under its Mosquito Surveillance and Response Plan.
“It’s important residents stay vigilant and help reduce mosquito breeding by eliminating sources of standing water on their property,” said Jazaly Harp, Frisco’s Environmental Health Manager.
