Universal has confirmed its highly anticipated Universal Kids Resort in Frisco will officially open on July 1, 2026, with the grand opening of a 20-acre theme park designed specifically for families with young children ages 3 through 8. The announcement includes the opening of a 300-room hotel located just steps from the park entrance.

TL;DR

  • Universal Kids Resort opens to the public on July 1, 2026, on a 20-acre site in Frisco.
  • The park features seven themed lands based on popular franchises including Shrek, SpongeBob SquarePants, Jurassic World, and Minions.
  • A 300-room themed hotel with family suites opening simultaneously; Standard Queen rooms sleeping up to five guests.
  • One-day tickets on sale now starting at $54.99; vacation packages and an annual pass option also available.

The park experience

Universal Kids Resort marks the company's first-ever theme park outside of Florida and California. Designed from the ground up exclusively for families with toddlers through elementary school-aged children, the park will feature seven themed lands inspired by well-known characters and franchises. Experiences are designed to be scaled for younger children, giving families a world-class destination without overstimulation.

Character and franchise landings include Shrek, SpongeBob SquarePants, Jurassic World, Minions, Trolls, Puss in Boots, and Gobby's Dollhouse. Each area is designed to let children immerse themselves in environments tailored to their interests and developmental stages.

The project was first announced by Universal in 2023 as a more accessible, regional concept compared to its larger theme park destinations in Orlando and Hollywood.

Accommodations

The newly constructed Universal Kids Resort Hotel sits adjacent to the park and will open on July 1 with 300 rooms and family sleeping quarters. All room types including the Standard Queen, Deluxe Queen, Signature Queen, and Family Suites accept reservations beginning June 30. The largest accommodations sleep up to six guests.

Rooms feature themed design elements, on-site dining options, and a pool area tailored for families. Additional on-site perks include early park admission for hotel guests and specialty admission options such as a 1.5-day ticket package.

Admission and packages

Universal confirmed that admission is now on sale. Available options include one-day and two-day general admission tickets, vacation packages bundling hotel and park access, and the resort's first annual pass option. Ticket pricing begins at $54.99 for single-day general admission.

NBC 5's Alicia Barrere reported early coverage of the resort from the construction site.
