Frisco ISD's new Bond Planning Committee begins meeting Tuesday, Oct. 20, the first step in a process that could end with trustees putting a bond before voters in May 2027.
The district says roughly 100 people will serve.
According to Frisco ISD's bond planning page, the board appointed 35 parents and community members (five per trustee), civic groups named eight more (four from the PTA council, two from the Frisco Education Foundation and two from the Frisco Chamber), district leaders picked 25 parents and community members and 20 staff members from applications, and 12 high school students were chosen from applicants with their principals' approval.
The district says it balanced membership by geography and sought people holding a range of views about Frisco ISD and about the bond election it held in 2024.
What the committee will study
Members are scheduled to learn about enrollment and demographic trends, the district's long-term Sustainability Plan, its finances, how much debt it can take on and what that means for the tax rate, and facility maintenance and renovation needs. Furniture and equipment, campus security systems, technology, transportation and the cost and ranking of projects are also on the list.
The group will finish by sending trustees a recommendation. Trustees alone decide whether to put a bond before voters in May 2027, the district says.
