Frisco ISD still has six team tennis squads in the UIL playoffs after every one of them won its second-round match this week, and two of them will now have to play each other.

The district's athletics office said the six teams beat their opponents by a combined 68-1. Wakeland gave up the only point, in a 15-1 win over Plano East.

Second-round results

  • Wakeland def. Plano East, 15-1
  • Lone Star def. Burleson, 12-0
  • Reedy def. Mansfield Summit, 11-0
  • Centennial def. Hallsville, 10-0
  • Independence def. Texarkana Texas, 10-0
  • Frisco def. Lovejoy, 10-0

Third-round schedule

The third round is the first point in the bracket where Frisco ISD schools can meet, and Frisco and Independence drew each other. All matches are on Monday, Oct. 12, or Tuesday, Oct. 13, at neutral sites:

  • Lone Star vs. Prosper Richland, 10 a.m. Monday at Little Elm High School
  • Wakeland vs. Coppell, 11 a.m. Monday at Plano's High Point Tennis Center
  • Centennial vs. Highland Park, 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lovejoy High School
  • Frisco vs. Independence, 10 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial High School
  • Reedy vs. Argyle, 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lewisville Harmon High School

Because Frisco and Independence play each other, at most five Frisco ISD teams can reach the following round. The district said the competition gets tougher each week from here.

Full brackets are posted by the UIL, and the district publishes results on its athletics news page.
