Construction on Collin College's Health Sciences Center in Frisco has moved into its last stretch, according to the monthly program report that the college's trustees receive at their Friday, Oct. 30, meeting.
The report from AECOM, the firm managing the college's 2023 master plan projects, covers work through September. It says exterior finishes and landscaping at the building are complete, and punch-list work, the final round of fixes before a contractor hands over a space, was set to begin the second week of October.
Inside, the construction manager had finished first-floor work except for final finishes in the west lobby, and the second floor was nearing completion. Major medical equipment was being installed, with a target of finishing by early to mid-October, while mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems were being commissioned and balanced.
The report also lists interior signs in fabrication, a security system install and college IT staff wiring the network.
One line notes the team "is working on statue requirement by City of Frisco." The report does not describe the statue.
The college's purchasing staff is preparing to buy the remaining furniture, fixtures and equipment, the report says. Progress photos included in the document show a cath lab, an AR/VR room and student space.
What the building is for
The three-story, 120,000-square-foot center at 9700 Wade Blvd. is a roughly $70 million project, Local Profile reported last December, when the college said it was set to open in January 2027. Radiology, imaging and sonography programs are planned for the first floor and nursing and physical therapy for the second, with the third floor left as a shell for future programs, according to that report.
