The PGA of America REACH Foundation opened its 2026 "HOPE 4 Heroes" fundraising campaign on Monday from its home in Frisco, asking donors to help pay for a free golf program for military veterans and active-duty service members.
The campaign runs through Dec. 31. The money goes to PGA HOPE, short for Helping Our Patriots Everywhere, which the foundation describes as its flagship military program. Participants go through a six-week curriculum taught by PGA of America golf professionals, with the goal of helping participants physically and mentally as well as socially and emotionally.
According to the foundation's announcement, the program is offered at hundreds of locations and has reached more than 71,000 veterans. The foundation says no other veteran golf program has a formal agreement of this kind with the VA, and that the agreement allows VA medical providers to recommend PGA HOPE as recreational therapy.
"The 'HOPE 4 Heroes' campaign unites our community to ensure that every Veteran who wants to experience the healing power of golf has access to this program," said Scott Kmiec, the foundation's executive director.
A Frisco graduating class
The drive follows a graduation at PGA Frisco on Oct. 21, when 20 veterans finished the program, Local Profile reported. The class was scheduled to play The Swing, the resort's 10-hole, par-3 course, before an evening ceremony.
