Frisco ISD is asking families, students, staff and community members to help shape the district's 2027-28 instructional calendar, with a new survey open through Oct. 2.

In a Sept. 17 announcement, the district said work is beginning on next school year's calendar and that stakeholder feedback will guide its calendar committee before any recommendation reaches the Board of Trustees.

Survey window and who can participate

The 2027-28 Instructional Calendar Survey opened Sept. 17 and closes Oct. 2, Frisco ISD said. The district linked the online questionnaire from its news post and said staff, students, parents and community members will have the opportunity to respond.

According to Frisco ISD, participants can weigh in on several calendar considerations, including:

  • The first and last days of school
  • The end of the first semester
  • Breaks and holidays

Those topics cover the core structure of the academic year that many Frisco families track when planning childcare, travel and extracurricular schedules.

How feedback becomes a board agenda item

After the survey closes, results will be shared with the calendar committee, the district said. Committee members will then put together a 2027-28 calendar recommendation that takes community feedback into account along with state requirements for instructional minutes and neighboring districts' breaks.

Frisco ISD said the committee's recommendation will be presented to the Board of Trustees for discussion and approval this fall, along with a presentation on the survey results. That sequence means public input collected over the next two weeks is intended to inform the draft the board reviews later this year.

Pattern of community surveys

The district noted that it regularly surveys the community on matters related to district operations and planning. Frisco ISD described the calendar survey as another opportunity for residents to share what matters most when it comes to the academic year.

For context on prior cycles, the Sept. 17 post pointed to a 2026-27 academic calendar presentation with survey results and the 2026-27 student calendar, as well as links to earlier school-year and post-bond election surveys.
