Families weighing high school course choices can walk through Frisco ISD's Career and Technical Education Center on Thursday, Oct. 15, when the district holds an open house from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
The district describes the evening as an interactive look at the center's career pathways, programs and hands-on learning for high school students. The center is at 9889 Wade Blvd.
A building that grew with the district
The CTE Center opened in 2008 with 1,134 students in its first year, according to its campus page, which recalls a student-run bank, unused classrooms and quiet hallways at the time. More than 5,600 students take classes there now.
It offers more than 30 programs of study, including health science, information technology, hospitality and tourism, and agriculture and construction. The district says its course plans draw on student course selections, surveys of middle and high school students, and conversations with industry, and that it works with Collin College and the University of North Texas to line up offerings.
Recent additions include cybersecurity, video game programming and esports.
Dianna Manuel is the center's principal.
