Allen police have spent months conducting undercover operations at smoke shops throughout the city to enforce age restrictions on vape sales and identify products containing illegal levels of THC. Officers made repeated purchases at various locations before sending the seized items to a certified laboratory in North Texas for testing.
The investigation revealed that some retailers were selling vaping products to individuals under the age of 21, despite state law requiring buyers to be at least 21 years old. In many instances, the THC content in the products was found to be well above the legal limit.
Allen is located approximately 9 miles east of Frisco. Police Chief John R. Williams stated that the issue of illegal vape sales is not isolated to Allen, noting that neighboring communities face similar challenges. His counterparts in surrounding cities have expressed agreement with this assessment, highlighting a regional concern regarding youth access to these substances.
