Sazon De Loa, a Mexican restaurant on Renner Road in Plano, has experienced a dramatic increase in patronage after the owner’s 15-year-old daughter posted a plea for support on TikTok. The establishment, which specializes in authentic dishes prepared by chef and owner Rafael De Loa, was nearly forced to shut down last month due to insufficient business. The sudden turnaround began when Leslie De Loa shared a video asking the public to visit the family business.
In the post, Leslie De Loa explained that the restaurant was struggling to attract customers despite her father’s hard work. She invited people to come for food and drinks, noting that the family was waiting for them. The video gained traction after being shared by TikToker Bucky Wild Child, who has more than 110,000 followers and had previously dined at the Renner Road location.
The response was immediate. On Thursday at lunchtime, the restaurant was crowded with customers traveling from various distances. Jhazmin Martinez said she saw the video and decided to visit for a date night. Her companion, Jesus Martinez, described the food as delicious. Other patrons, such as Diego Osorio and C.J. Nelson, noted they were surprised by the large crowd but were willing to wait for the meal.
Rafael De Loa expressed gratitude for the community’s support, calling the situation a miracle. He noted that the restaurant has been open for nearly two years without seeing such success before. The influx of customers has also resolved staffing issues; previously, he could not find waiters willing to work without tips, but staff are now available. However, the surge has created a new challenge: the need for more employees. The restaurant is currently hiring to keep up with demand.
Leslie De Loa remarked on the amazement of people taking time off their day to support the business. The owner, who described himself as both happy and tired, stated he is working long hours to manage the increased volume. Plano is about 12 miles southeast of Frisco.
