Avelo Airlines has identified five nonstop destinations for the McKinney National Airport (DTX), with inaugural flights scheduled to begin on November 11. The carrier will operate services to Las Vegas, Nevada, and four Florida locations: Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando, and Tampa. These flights will run from Wednesday through Monday, allowing passengers to utilize the Veterans Day holiday for travel.

The launch of these routes aligns with the opening of a newly constructed passenger terminal at DTX. The 46,000-square-foot facility, located at 1910 FM 546 in McKinney, is expected to be completed in November 2026. The terminal will feature four boarding gates, with provisions to expand to six, along with centralized food and beverage concessions, passenger hold rooms, a 980-space public parking lot, and onsite car rental and ground transportation services.

Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy described the airline as the anchor tenant and launch carrier for the airport. He stated that the company intends to base two aircraft at DTX, reflecting a long-term commitment to the region. Levy noted that this investment is expected to generate more than 100 new jobs, including positions for pilots, flight attendants, mechanics, baggage handlers, and gate agents. He emphasized that the airline aims to provide low fares and reliable service to North Texas travelers.

City of McKinney Mayor Bill Cox welcomed the announcement, stating that the new service reflects demand for convenient air travel closer to home. He added that the development reinforces McKinney’s role in the region’s future and its appeal to residents, businesses, and investors. Cox thanked Avelo for its confidence in the regional market.

McKinney National Airport Director of Aviation Ken Carley expressed pride in the completion of the terminal and the arrival of the airline. He credited the dedication of various individuals, partners, and agencies for making the milestone possible. Carley noted that the airport will serve as one of five national crew bases for Avelo, creating career opportunities for local residents.

McKinney is about 12 miles east of Frisco. Further details regarding specific ticket prices or the exact number of daily flights were not provided in the source material.
