Texas A&M men’s golf began its centennial campaign with a strong showing at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup, securing a spot near the top of the leaderboard after two days of stroke play at Fields Ranch East in Frisco.
The Aggies finished the opening 36 holes tied for second place with a team score of 4-under 572. They trail first-place Texas by 12 shots, while Rice sits in third at 1-under 575. The field includes six teams competing in the event.
Junior Wheaton Ennis provided significant support for the squad, posting rounds of 71 and 70 to reach 3-under 141. His performance tied him for fifth place individually. Ennis recorded eight birdies across the two rounds, a total that ranked fifth among all players, and played the par-5 holes at 2-under.
Coach Brian Kortan highlighted Ennis’s consistent improvement earlier this season. "Wheaton sets a very high bar and holds himself to that standard every day," Kortan said. Ennis enters this year following a breakout 2025-26 campaign where he finished 29th nationally and earned PING Third-Team All-America honors.
Sophomore Shiv Parmar delivered the team’s best single round with an opening 3-under 69. He followed that with a 73 to sit tied for seventh at 2-under 142. Kris Kuvaas is in ninth place at even-par 144 after rounds of 71 and 73.
Aaron Pounds shot a 1-under 71 in the afternoon to recover from a first-round 74, placing him tied for 10th at 1-over 145. Freshman Landon Ashcraft completed the lineup at 7-over 151.
