Universal Kids Resort has officially opened its doors in Frisco, prompting nearby commercial establishments to adjust their strategies in anticipation of sustained economic expansion. Business owners in the immediate vicinity are looking beyond the initial influx of families seeking entertainment, aiming instead to capture long-term growth driven by the new tourist destination.

The Brunch District, a restaurant located just down the road from the resort, opened approximately one month ago with the specific intent of capitalizing on its proximity to one of North Texas’s newest major attractions. Christian Navarro, the establishment’s manager, noted that while daily traffic fluctuates, weekends tend to see stronger performance. He expressed confidence that as more visitors become aware of the area, overall patronage will rise significantly.

Navarro highlighted the concentration of major developments in the region, citing The Fields, the PGA facility, and the Universal resort as key drivers. Although he observed that current foot traffic has been slightly lower than initial projections, he predicted that the area would experience consistent busy periods within a year. Having resided in Frisco for nine years, Navarro has witnessed the rapid transformation of the landscape from open land and dirt roads to one of the fastest-growing corridors in North Texas.

Concerns regarding increased congestion are common with such rapid development, but city officials state they have taken proactive measures. Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney explained that the city’s engineering team addressed infrastructure needs well before the resort’s opening. According to Cheney, roads and utilities were installed in advance to accommodate the expected volume of vehicles.

Cheney further detailed that city planners intentionally designed the development mix along the Dallas North Tollway to mitigate traffic issues. By combining office spaces with entertainment and tourism venues, the city aims to distribute vehicle flow throughout the day, avoiding the peak congestion typically associated with office buildings that operate on similar schedules. Cheney described this mixed-use approach as an effective traffic mitigation tool.

As Frisco continues to attract new attractions and commercial projects, local business owners remain optimistic about the area’s trajectory. Navarro characterized the current environment as a favorable setup for future success, reflecting the broader sentiment among merchants betting on the resort’s long-term impact.
