The University of Houston Football team has announced that offensive guard Shadre Hurst has been selected for the Preseason AP All-American First-Team. This recognition was made public on Tuesday, highlighting Hurst's impressive performance and contributions to the team.
Earlier this month, Hurst was also included in the Lombardi Trophy and Outland Trophy Preseason Watch Lists. He has a history with head coach Willie Fritz and offensive line coach Eman Naghavi from their time at Tulane, where Hurst achieved All-American status and earned All-AAC honors in The American Conference.
Hurst has demonstrated exceptional skills on the field, boasting an 80.0 pass block grade since 2023, which ranks him second among active FBS offensive linemen. Throughout over 1,200 passing snaps, he has allowed only one sack, showcasing his reliability and effectiveness.
In 2025, Hurst was recognized as the top graded offensive lineman in the American Athletic Conference and ranked as the sixth highest graded guard nationally by Pro Football Focus (PFF). During his tenure at Tulane, he played a key role in securing three conference titles from 2022 to 2025, maintaining a remarkable record of just one sack allowed over four seasons.
