The Houston Texans are facing challenges as they prepare for the 2026 NFL season, particularly following the injury of wide receiver Jayden Higgins, who has been placed on injured reserve due to a torn ACL.
Higgins was expected to play a significant role as the team's No. 2 receiver, but his absence has prompted the Texans to seek additional help at the position, especially with other receivers, Jaylin Noel and Tank Dell, also dealing with injuries.
In response to this situation, the Texans are reportedly exploring options in free agency, focusing on veteran wide receivers Josh Reynolds and Zay Jones. Reynolds, known for his time with the Detroit Lions, recorded 40 receptions for 608 yards and five touchdowns in 2023.
Zay Jones, who previously played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, had a notable 2022 season with 82 catches for 823 yards and five touchdowns.
While both Reynolds and Jones have faced difficulties in recent years, the Texans are considering them as potential additions to bolster their receiving corps. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the team is conducting workouts for free agent receivers, and both Reynolds and Jones are on their radar as they navigate the current roster challenges.
With Higgins out for the season, the Texans may rely heavily on Xavier Hutchinson, Noel, and Dell to step up alongside star receiver Nico Collins. The team’s interest in Reynolds and Jones suggests they are looking for experienced players to enhance their offensive options, although it remains to be seen if any additional names will emerge as viable candidates.
