The Houston Texans will be without wide receiver Jayden Higgins for the entire 2026 season due to a torn ACL sustained during a joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Wednesday that Higgins, a second-year player, will miss the upcoming season.

Higgins, selected as the No. 34 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, had a productive rookie season, recording 41 receptions for 525 yards and six touchdowns. He stepped into a more significant role following the injury of teammate Tank Dell late in the 2024 season, becoming a key target for quarterback C.J. Stroud.

In 2025, Higgins caught 41 of 68 targets, with an increase in his target share during Houston's nine-game winning streak to conclude the regular season. His performance improved late in the season, as he scored four of his six touchdowns in the final nine weeks and achieved his highest yardage totals in Weeks 13 and 17.

With Higgins out, the Texans will look to players such as Xavier Hutchinson, Jaylin Noel, and Justin Watson to help fill the gap in their receiving corps. The team is also hopeful that Tank Dell, who is recovering from his own injury, may be able to contribute at some point during the season. Further details regarding Higgins' recovery timeline have not yet been provided.
