Frisco, Texas — Texas received a Fourth of July boost to its 2027 recruiting class when five-star offensive tackle Ismael Camara committed to the Longhorns, beating out Oregon, LSU, SMU, and Alabama for the highly coveted lineman from Gilmer, Texas.
At 6-foot-5 and 225 pounds, Camara brings a frame and skill set that recruiting analysts consider among the best in his class. His journey to this point is far from typical for a Texas football prospect. Camara is originally from Le Mans, France, and relocated to the United States during his early high school years. The 247Sports scouting department views him as an elite talent with exceptional physical gifts and natural athleticism, likening his profile to that of Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor.
Texas offensive line coach Kyle Flood served as the primary recruiter for Camara, who made three official visits in June. He traveled to LSU on June 5, Texas on June 12, and Oregon on June 19 before settling on the Longhorns. Camara's varsity debut came as a junior in 2025, when he started at left tackle and saw reps on the defensive line and on punt protection, after spending his sophomore season at the sub-varsity level due to Texas high school transfer regulations.
The big man's athletic ability is not confined to football. Camara has competed in shot put and discus, recording throws of 46-8.5 and 135-6, respectively. Evaluators have praised his foot speed relative to his size, his aggressive playing style, and the versatility to project at either tackle or guard at the next level. Despite being relatively new to the sport, his ceiling is considered among the highest of any lineman in the 2027 cycle.
