DeGrom Dominates on the Mound
Jacob deGrom delivered a masterclass in strikeout artistry, fanning ten batters while allowing just one hit and no earned runs over six innings. His outing secured his ninth win of the season, improving his record to 9-8.
DeGrom navigated through three walks but kept the Washington Nationals off the scoreboard entirely until late in the game, setting the tone for a defensive struggle at Globe Life Field.
The Rangers’ bullpen maintained that shutout effort with precision. Jakob Junis pitched one scoreless inning, issuing two walks but striking out no batters. Chase Silseth followed with another perfect frame, recording two strikeouts without walking any hitters. Closer Jacob Latz closed the deal in the eighth, racking up three strikes in his inning to earn his 25th save of the year.
Seager’s Solo Shot Breaks Tension
The game remained deadlocked at 0-0 until the third inning when Corey Seager changed the complexion of the contest. Seager launched a ball 382 feet to left center for a home run, providing the Rangers with a 1-0 lead that would prove decisive. The blast was the only home run of the game and the first run scored by either team.
Washington’s starting pitcher Andrew Alvarez took the loss, falling to 2-5 on the season. He allowed four hits and three walks while striking out five batters over his five innings, but managed to keep the game within reach until Seager’s homer. The Nationals’ offense was stifled throughout, unable to generate any additional offense against Texas’s pitching staff.
