Frisco police arrested Edward Jacob Lang, a far-right social media influencer who had received a presidential pardon for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol, on a criminal trespass warrant Tuesday evening, jail records show. Lang was being held at the Collin County Jail as of Wednesday afternoon.

TL;DR

  • Frisco police arrested 30-year-old Edward Jacob Lang on Tuesday on an active criminal trespass warrant.
  • Lang is being held at the Collin County Jail; bond conditions and a court date had not been publicly listed as of Wednesday afternoon.
  • The warrant traces to an April 2025 incident at David Kuykendall Stadium, the site of high school athlete Austin Metcalf's fatal stabbing.
  • Lang was pardoned earlier this year for his Jan. 6 federal case and separately faces felony property damage charges in Minnesota.

What Frisco police said

Frisco police told FOX 4 News that Lang was taken into custody Tuesday evening on an active criminal trespass warrant and that details surrounding the arrest were limited. The department did not publicly specify the exact location or time of the underlying alleged trespass when speaking with FOX 4.

According to The Dallas Express, the warrant relates to an April 2025 incident at David Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco. Per The Dallas Express, Lang reportedly entered the stadium by climbing a fence in order to film what he described as dried blood from the scene of the fatal stabbing of Frisco high school athlete Austin Metcalf at a track meet.

Background on Lang's federal case

Lang was first arrested in 2021 for his role in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. He served four years in federal custody under an 11-count indictment that included assault charges for attacking law enforcement officers with a baseball bat, according to FOX 4's summary of court records. He received a presidential pardon earlier this year.

Separate Minnesota charge

FOX 4 also reported that Ramsey County, Minnesota prosecutors charged Lang earlier in 2026 with a felony count of first-degree property damage. The Minnesota charge stems from an incident at the state Capitol in which prosecutors accuse Lang of destroying a "Prosecute ICE" ice sculpture that had been placed on Capitol grounds under permit by the group Common Defense.

The sculpture cost $6,250, according to FOX 4. If convicted, Lang faces up to five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both.

Context for Frisco

The David Kuykendall Stadium incident referenced in the warrant has remained part of public attention in Frisco since the April 2025 death of Austin Metcalf, a Memorial High School student who was fatally stabbed at a UIL track meet held at the stadium. Frisco police processed the stadium as a crime scene at the time of the death.

What is still unclear

As of Wednesday afternoon, Frisco police had not publicly released additional details about the timing or exact circumstances of the Tuesday arrest beyond the existence of the outstanding warrant, and court records reflecting a first appearance had not been posted on publicly accessible Collin County dockets at the time FOX 4 and The Dallas Express published. Lang remained in custody at the Collin County Jail.
