Frisco ISD said it has hired and trained School Marshals for every elementary campus a year ahead of schedule, placing marshals on staff for the 2026-27 school year with full state credentials expected soon.
Hiring began in fall 2025 and was expected to take two years. The district said a large pool of candidates with law enforcement backgrounds allowed every elementary campus to be staffed early. The announcement was posted around Sept. 2.
"We know that students learn best and teachers can do their best work when they feel safe and secure," Superintendent Dr. Todd Fouche said in the Frisco ISD release. "Having a School Marshal on every elementary campus gives our staff, students and families an added sense of confidence and peace of mind.
We're proud to have made this important investment in our schools and to have these professionals in place ahead of schedule."
How marshals fit with SROs
The Board of Trustees approved the School Marshal Program in spring 2025 as part of a layered safety approach, the district said. School Resource Officers will continue rotating among elementary schools, while marshals are intended to ensure every campus has trained security personnel on site full time.
Frisco ISD credited partnerships with the Frisco, McKinney, Plano and Little Elm police departments on the existing SRO program. Adding elementary marshals, the district said, also lets SROs focus primarily on secondary campuses that serve as their home base.
