The San Antonio Missions concluded a recent road trip in Frisco with a 2-4 record against the RoughRiders. Despite leading in the eighth inning of Friday night’s game, the Missions allowed six runs to fall behind. A similar pattern occurred in Sunday’s contest, where San Antonio held the lead before Frisco secured an 8-5 victory.
The losses leave the Missions with a 20-25 record in the second half of the regular season. The team is currently four games behind the Texas League South division leaders, Frisco and Amarillo. Four series remain before the 2026 regular season ends.
Manager Chris Tremie noted that the team faced challenges in defense, offense, and pitching during the week, describing the losses as a mix of various factors and bad luck.
Roster changes impacted the team toward the end of the series. Shortstop Carson Tucker and outfielder Jake Cunningham were placed on the 7-day injured list. Tucker holds the highest batting average on the team for the second half of the season, while Cunningham is ranked as the No. 25 prospect in the San Diego Padres organization.
Tremie stated that losing contributors hurts the team and that the remaining players must step up to fill the void.
Despite the series loss, outfielder Alex McCoy made a notable Double-A debut. Promoted from High-A Fort Wayne on Friday, McCoy hit two home runs in his first game at the new level. Against Frisco, he recorded seven hits, two doubles, and six RBIs.
Tremie praised McCoy’s composure, noting that the 24-year-old appeared relaxed and ready to perform despite the level change. McCoy, a Baltimore native and Hofstra graduate, is batting .277 across High-A and Double-A this year.
