Key Offensive Plays
Tampa Bay Rays players Fortes and Caminero delivered the decisive blows in a 3-1 win over the Houston Astros on Saturday at Daikin Park. The game remained deadlocked at 1-1 until the seventh inning when Caminero launched a 374-foot home run to left field, giving the Rays a 2-1 advantage.
Fortes contributed significantly to the Rays' output. In the sixth inning, he homered to left center, measuring 391 feet, to open the scoring at 1-0. Later in the eighth inning, Fortes doubled to center field, driving in Walls to extend the lead to 3-1. Alvarez responded for Houston with a 427-foot home run to right center in the sixth inning, tying the game at 1-1.
Pitching Performance
Nick Martinez started for Tampa Bay, pitching 5.1 innings and allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out three batters. He was supported by a strong relief effort. Kevin Kelly pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win, improving his record to 5-3. Casey Legumina worked a perfect inning for the save setup, and Bryan Baker closed out the game with a 1.0 inning save, his 23rd of the season.
For the Astros, starter Spencer Arrighetti pitched 6.0 innings, giving up two hits and one earned run with four strikeouts. Steven Okert entered in the seventh and allowed one hit and one earned run in his 1.0 inning of work, taking the loss and dropping his record to 1-1. Enyel De Los Santos pitched 2.0 innings, allowing two hits and one earned run with two strikeouts.
