McKinney is set to welcome LITEON Technology, a Taiwanese electronics firm, which will establish a significant AI power and infrastructure manufacturing site. Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced this development, highlighting an investment of nearly $919 million that is projected to generate over 600 jobs throughout the project's lifespan.
The initial phase of the project entails a capital investment of $307 million and will create around 500 jobs. The facility will cover more than 650,000 square feet and will serve as LITEON's North American headquarters, focusing on the design and production of power systems essential for AI data centers.
The state has supported this initiative with a $3.5 million grant from the Texas Enterprise Fund and an additional $100,000 Veteran Created Job Bonus.
LITEON, which has been a leader in electronics since its founding in 1975, is shifting its focus towards AI-related technologies. This strategic move is expected to significantly enhance its revenue from AI, which is projected to account for 40 percent of its income this year. The company is also involved in developing advanced power solutions for data centers, which are rapidly expanding in North Texas.
This development marks one of the largest corporate investments in McKinney's history, further solidifying the city's position in advanced manufacturing. The timelines for construction and hiring have yet to be disclosed.
McKinney is about 12 miles east of Frisco.
